The Dominican Association of Travel Agencies and Tourism (ADAVIT) recently held the 4th Professional Journey of Travel Agents, an event headed by its Vice President, Ana Santelises de Latour, who welcomed the attendees and thanked the support of the sponsors and collaborators.

It was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, where leaders from the tourism sector gathered.

The activity had the official sponsorship of the Ministry of Tourism -Mitur- and developed an extensive agenda whose main theme was the “Future of Travel Agencies,” presented by Francisco Hungary, of the Amadeus company, which provides technological services for the world travel industry.

At the ADAVIT event, the trends and evolution of technology were highlighted as the two fundamental factors for travel agents to meet the demand of customers in an increasingly digital and competitive world.

Another of the topics discussed were “Digital Transformation”, presented by Juan R. Fabian of Liquid Digital Agency; “Tenable and Sustainable Tourism”, by Bolivar Troncoso, President of Honor of the Pan American Confederation of Hotel, Gastronomy, and Tourism Schools (CONPEHT), Dominican Republic chapter; “Beyond medical assistance”, by Jose Tomas Rosario, business executive of Seguros Universal.

Health Tourism is trending. In that sense, the Director of Health Tourism at Mitur, Jacqueline Monegro, had a presentation in which she pointed out the importance of this tourism market segment for the capturing of foreign currency both in the public and private sector and whose services are offered with the highest quality standards.

The meeting ended with a summary of most outstanding novelties and activities by ADAVIT during the current year.
