Dr. Jean Paul Giudicelli, former President of the Dominican Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, (SODOCIPRE) narrowed down what plastic surgery patients are looking for in a destination.

“They are looking for quality service, obviously a good price. They look for warmth on the service delivery,” said the expert surgeon at the 4th International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Dr. Giudicelli emphasized that “definitely, as Latin Americans, we offer all that.”

He participated at the Dominican Health Services Offer panel led by Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, President of the Dominican Health Tourism Association, co-host of the event along AF Comunicacion Estrategica.

Dr. Jean Paul Giudicelli about the industry and estimated plastic surgery patients

At the biggest Medical Travel event of the Caribbean, the surgeon noted how the industry has changed and how other actors of the value chain are appearing as the sector consolidates.

“All of a sudden a lot of actors are appearing, the one that sells you the faja (compression garment), another one that sells you a product,” and added that the niche is “growing at an incredible rate and in order to stay on point, we shall be very attentive to what is happening around.”

Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso asked Dr. Giudicelli “how many patients we have each year if there is an estimate, and out of those, how many are from abroad,” after emphasizing the importance of having a strategic plan for the sector.
