Medical Motion Corporate and Plaza de la Salud established an agreement to provide second opinion medical services that intend to improve the transfer of technology, knowledge, and research.
The local company led by Francesco Fino will refer its affiliates from the United States to the Plaza de la Salud General Hospital (HGPS) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic,
Signed on November 6th, it includes the following second opinion medical services for:
- Heart attack
- Coronary artery disease
- Kidney failure
- Multiple sclerosis
- Major burns
- Organ transplantation
- Neurodegenerative diseases
Medical Motion Corporate (MMC) operates through WorldCare International, who has an exclusive contractual relationship with the medical institutions that make up WorldCare Consortium, currently comprised by the leading U.S. medical institutions, holding more than 20,000 specialists and subspecialist.
“These institutions have access to more than 4 billion dollars in annual biomedical research funding. The medical talent residing within these institutions commit to addressing the needs of patients worldwide through WorldCare’s medical second opinion service, in a methodology which emulates a clinic visit by a patient,” stated Dr. Hassan Sharif to DoHealthWell on a September interview.
According to Dr. Sharif, Worldcare has significantly reduced costs of healthcare expenditure “as we confirmed a misdiagnosis in 26% of our cases and recommended a modified treatment in more than 75% of cases.”
In that context, Medical Motion then provides services related to healthcare and medical tourism.
What are the benefits of this second opinion agreement
Medical Motion and HGPS highlighted that their agreement provides the following benefits for their users:
- Transfer of technology, knowledge and research information
- Exchange of experiences
- Improvement of diagnosing and treatment
- Relationship with top U.S. hospitals and universities
- Better healthcare for local and international patients
MMC will also be responsible for the compilation of cases and the translation from English to Spanish of all relevant medical records and consultation reports.
