The Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES) announced the XXI edition of the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE), to be held from March 31st to April 3rd in Punta Cana.
The event is set at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana, focused on the promotion and commercialization of the Dominican tourist offer.
At a cocktail held in Santo Domingo, Andrés Marranzini Grullón, executive vicepresident of ASONAHORES, explained that DATE has contributed to the growth of tourism activity in the country, highlighting the importance of the joint effort with the Ministry of Tourism and the Tourist Promotion Offices in the broadcast of the tourism product of the country.
Also, in the international promotion of the Dominican Republic to generate business agreements and exceed the number of tourists who visit us annually.
“The objective of DATE is to generate the business agreements necessary to maintain and exceed the number of tourists who will visit us in the short term, to strengthen the positioning of the Dominican Republic as the main destination of the Caribbean,” added Marranzini Grullón.
During the fair, more than 230 buyers will be received from the main issuing markets and international press representatives who will visit Santo Domingo, La Romana, Juan Dolio, among other destinations.
Sheyly Viuque, Marketing Director of Asonahores, said that the XXI DATE edition will focus on maximizing business opportunities and facilitating exchanges between the various actors that will meet at the event.
This year it is planned to offer about 180 stands in sizes 3x2mts and 2x1mts, which reflects an increase of 20% compared to 2019, in order to host more supplying companies.
“For this edition we have partnered with the Target Marketing Consultants company to celebrate Caribbean Adventure Travel Show, CATS, in order to bring 30 to 35 buyers specialized in adventure tourism, being the first show of this nature to be performing in the Dominican Republic and representing the support of Asonahores to the different segments and the great diversity offered by the Dominican tourism product, ” said Viuque.S
She informed the celebration of the “Central America & Dominican Republic Innovation + Tourism Talk”, an event that will include the participation of Google and Trip Advisor, experts in tourism promotion, and coordinated by the Federation of Tourism Chambers of Central America (Fedecatur) and the Central America Tourism Agency (CATA).
She added that the business rounds, press conferences and workshops will begin on April 1st, culminating that night with a theme party at Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana, the first hotel in the Macau area, whose characteristics and facilities will be presented through This activity, exclusively, for all DATE attendees.
Teddy De Lara, executive president of TARGET Marketing Consultants, added that this event will be a platform that will show the world everything that the adventure tourism segment offers.
