The former Dominican Minister of Tourism, Ellis Perez, said that the Luis Augusto Caminero Award, organized by the Dominican Association of Tourism Press (Adompretur), will be a timely and deserved act of justice for Dominican tourism and its main protagonists.
The veteran communicator and founder of Adompretur stressed that the first installment of the award, to be held on Tuesday, July 9th, will recognize institutions, actors and tourism events that have contributed to position the country as the main tourist destination in the Caribbean and Central America.
The president of the selection jury also said that the main leaders and authorities of the sector, led by the President of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina, have been invited to the ceremony; as well as the minister of tourism, Francisco Javier Garcia, who will deliver the closing remarks.
He said that in addition to honoring the memory of a visionary like Luis Augusto Caminero, founder of the magazine Bohio Dominicano in 1966, and Adompretur in 1977, the award will recognize the merits and good practices of tourism through its main current protagonists.
The acknowledgments will include:
